Even Nine was formed when brothers Jody and Rick Martin met up with Brett Stepto. Realising they all shared the same musical loves and ambitions, they set about writing and recording songs that include heartfelt, inspired vocals underpinned by an energetic, modern rock sound.
Shortly after, Even Nine released their self titled EP, followed in quick succession by a second EP 'Feed'. Constant gigg...ing and touring, support slots with the likes of 'Fun lovin' Criminals', 'Reef' and 'Rooster' along with festivals throughout the UK including an open air performance in London's Covent Garden and supporting 'Dr John' in front of 10,000 people at the Rock meets Blues festival, hugely increased the band's fan base. Regular airplay, interviews and acoustic sessions on both national and local radio, as well as being tipped by the music industry trade magazine Music Week as one of the ‘hottest unsigned bands’ helped feed a growing interest in the band as did receiving frequent rave reviews for both their EPs and energy packed live shows.
Supporting the band 'Thunder' on a UK tour further confirmed Even Nine’s presence and ability to perform and entertain on a larger setting and built up anticipation for the release of their debut album...
Even Nine's debut album ‘No Heroes Anymore’, mastered in New York by veteran engineer Chris Athens, was released both as CD and download via evennine.com along with itunes, napster, amazon. Even Nine once again set upon touring throughout the UK and promoting their album, which along with yet more radio play, helped rack up hugely successful album sales and glowing reviews. The band also undertook their first ever acoustic tour throughout the South West.
The sudden departure of bass player Greg Godding, left Jody, Rick and Brett continuing Even Nine as a 3 piece with Jody now playing bass as well as handling lead vocals. Refreshed after writing, rehearsing and shaping their new dynamic as a 3 piece, the band is back out playing, touring and continuing to spread their infectious love of music and distinct powerful sound.
With a new album in the pipeline, 2012 looks set a be an exciting year...
